1. Initial interview

  • We start with the interview to uncover your skills, background and what you are looking for.
  • I promise, you have never received helpful interview feedback. I know this because in 30 years I rarely gave any. There are numerous reasons why interviewers don’t give it; time, fear of upsetting you, biases towards you, interviewers can’t be bothered or just unskilled at giving feedback.
  • Don’t be fooled by thinking you give a great interview just because you have gotten jobs in the past. People interview poorly all the time and get jobs, often dragging along poor technique like lead weights for their entire career.
  • It often comes down to the toughest hurdle of all YOUR MINDSET. Wouldn’t you like to be the very best you can be to get the very best jobs?
  • Imagine feeling confident you can repeat this and ace the interview whenever you want. For the first time ever you will get the interview feedback you need.

2. Redraft of CV & cover letter

  • I’ve heard all the questions before! Bill should it be one page, or five pages? Do I need a personal profile or career highlights section? How do I explain the elephant in the room, my dreaded CV GAP?
  • CVs are subjective, but when you understand the underlying principles you can stop agonising over the small details.
  • I will teach you the principles and carry out a robust and thorough assessment of your CV.
  • We will then work together to redraft your CV so that it is suitable, applicable and gives you the strongest possibility of securing your desired role.

3. Job site optimisation

  • Many people would have you believe you’re wasting your time on job boards, and you are if you don’t know how to use them efficiently! I will advise you on how to use job boards correctly, signposting you to new relevant sites and improving your profile on the job sites you are using.
  • Simple tweaks can boost your odds massively. Thousands of people have already witnessed this in the presentations I give and the reaction is always the same. Astonishment, surprise and then a bit upset they didn’t see this sooner!
  • You don’t even have to do the work. I will engineer your profile to optimise your chances to be found and fix your alerts so opportunities can finally start chasing you.
  • I will tell you how a recruiter searches to find your profile and introduce you to opportunities. As an active recruiter, no one knows this better.
  • I will assist you when applying for roles, ensuring that you are well matched to the opportunity. The application process is crucial and you want to make sure that your process is faultless.
  • Application forms can be a killer if not competed correctly. I will guide you through the process with my time and resources to give you the best shot at nailing an interview.

4. Effective LinkedIn profile

  • It’s the number one way you can now be found for opportunities. Sadly most effort is wasted on the platform. Posting a picture of your lunch or high-fiving people in new jobs is great fun but won’t get you found.
  • Writing posts to tell everyone how tough you’ve had it won’t get you found either. Let’s get found. I will improve and optimise your profile, so you are no longer cut adrift in the LinkedIn wilderness.
  • I will expand your network connecting you to dozens of new suitable recruiters. More importantly I’ll also show you how they work, what they see (or don’t) when they click on your profile and crucially what to say to them when you are connected.
  • If your job search isn’t fully maximising and harnessing the tremendous power of LinkedIn, you are hurting your own chances of landing the job you want.

5. Interview preparation

  • The culmination of all this activity is of course to generate interviews, and if you’ve followed the steps correctly you should be starting to see opportunities emerging. With this in mind, I won’t just abandon you to the rollercoaster and confusion of what can feel like a cold and at times bewildering process.
  • I will give you access to our interviewing resources, continuing to hone your technique for every possible interview type from telephone screeners to competency questions to scary salary negotiations.
  • Prior to a selective number of interviews, I will also be available to prepare and coach you to outperform the competition and get the job.
  • Should you be asked to produce a presentation, take assessments, a zoom call or face to face, I am on hand to give you confidence that your preparation is spot on.
